Ohio State's Brain and Spine Hospital to offer an integrated care experience: 6 highlights

Columbus-based Ohio State University's Wexner Medical Center's Brain and Spine Hospital offers patients an integrated care approach, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

Here are six highlights:

 

1. Patients will begin occupying the hospital on Sept. 30.

 

2. The 87-bed hospital encompasses three floors, housing private patient rooms, a rehabilitation gym and an epilepsy patient care center.

 

3. One floor includes disabled-access showers and lifts, built for spinal cord injury patients. Another floor houses a "telestroke" robot, which allows Ohio State physicians to work with physicians in 24 regional hospitals.

 

4. The hospital's design locates various physician teams close to each other, so patients may receive the best care for their specific conditions.

 

5. The hospital also strives to provide exemplary education for students as well as recruit excellent staff members.

 

6. The Brain and Spine Hospital came to fruition through $17.6 million in renovations.
