Dr. Joseph Maroon: Steelers' James Harrison's Discectomy Successful

Joseph Maroon, MD, team physician for the Pittsburgh Steelers, recently performed a discectomy on linebacker James Harrison, according to a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette report.

The discectomy was performed to remove a piece of herniated disc off a nerve that was bothering Mr. Harrison throughout the season. The surgery was successful and Mr. Harrison is expected to recover in time for the beginning of the 2011 season.
