Dr. Mark Johnson to lead UMass Medical neurosurgery department — 6 highlights

Worcester-based University of Massachusetts Medical School and Worcester-based University of Massachusetts Medical Center appointed Mark D. Johnson, MD, PhD, chair of the neurosurgery department.

Here are six highlights:

 

1. Dr. Johnson serves as a neurosurgery associate professor at Boston-based Harvard Medical School.

 

2. He currently practices at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Children's Hospital Boston and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, all in Boston.

 

3. Dr. Johnson specializes in brain tumor management, adult hydrocephalus and neurosurgical pain management.

 

4. He has published more than 20 articles and educational reviews.

 

5. Dr. Johnson has trained more than 15 neurosurgical residents and 23 fellows.

 

6. He completed his neurosurgery fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland.
