Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation donates $1M to Children's Minnesota's pediatric neurosurgery suite: 5 highlights

The Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation donated $1 million to Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, headquartered in Minneapolis.

Here are five highlights:

 

1. The donation will help fund construction of a pediatric neurosurgery suite at the Children's Minnesota's St. Paul Campus.

 

2. The Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Pediatric Neurosurgery Suite treats various nervous system conditions, with an emphasis on spine and epilepsy surgeries.

 

3. Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota will update the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Pediatric Neurosurgery Suite with new technology, allowing greater accuracy and less invasive procedures. Children's Minnesota expects construction to conclude in 2017.

 

4. In 2013, Children's Minnesota opened the Karen and George Benz Family Pediatric Neuroscience Center, which provides pediatric brain surgeries. The St. Paul-based center treats children with brain tumors, epilepsy, spina bifida, congenital disorders, craniofacial disorders and spinal degeneration, among others.

 

5. Children's Minnesota has received more than $8 million from donors since 2012. The institution has dedicated more than $60 million to neuroscience care.
