CHI Franciscan Health earns Blue Distinction designation for spine, knee & hip surgery — 3 highlights

Six CHI Franciscan Health hospitals based in Tacoma, Wash., have been named Blue Distinction Centers for spine surgery and/or knee and hip replacement by Blue Cross Blue Shield, according to the CHI Franciscan Health Newsroom.

Here are three highlights:

 

1. The CHI Franciscan hospitals with Blue Distinction Center designations include:

 

  • St. Francis Hospital, Federal Way, Wash. for spine surgery, knee and hip replacement
  • St. Joseph Medical Center, Tacoma, Wash., for spine surgery, knee and hip replacement
  • Highline Medical Center, Burien, Wash., for knee and hip replacement
  • Harrison Medical Center, Bremerton, Wash., for knee and hip replacement
  • St. Anthony Hospital, Gig Harbor, Wash., for knee and hip replacement
  • St. Clare Hospital, Lakewood, Wash., for knee and hip replacement

 

2. CHI Franciscan Health is a nonprofit health system with a team of nearly 12,000 physicians, nurses and staff that provide medical care at eight acute-care hospitals and more than 100 primary and specialty care clinics in Pierce, King and Kitsap counties in Washington.

 

3. In 2011, 1.45 million spine surgeries were performed, according to AANS National Neurosurgical Procedural Statistics.
