Will stem cells revitalize brain cells of the dead? 6 things to know

Spine

Philadelphia-based Bioquark is analyzing whether injecting stem cells into the central nervous system will revitalize the brain cells in dead post-trauma patients, according to Counsel&Heal.

Here are six things to know:

1. Bioquark will test the theory on 20 clinically dead post-trauma patients.

2. The researchers may also infuse cocktail peptides to the spinal cord as well as perform nerve stimulation techniques.

3. Dr. Calixto Machada, a Cuban neurologist, will head the studies. He has authored many pieces on brain death.

4. The study will combine biologic regenerative medicine tools with central nervous system stimulation medical devices.

5. Bioquark hopes for results as early as two months into the study.

6. The trials will be held at Anupam Hospital in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, India.
