On April 12, Dr. Roy Amarasuriya, former spine specialist at Long Beach (Calif.) VA Medical Center, died from respiratory failure at age 88, according to Press-Telegram.
Dr. Amarasuriya immigrated to the United States from Sri Lanka with his family, and started working at the VA Medical Center in 1970.
He specialized in physical medicine and rehabilitation within the spinal cord injury department. He retired in 2007.
