SpineHope, Dell Children's Medical Center make a dream a reality for Sri Lanka teen — 5 points

Spine

A Sri Lanka teen is traveling to Texas to undergo complex spine surgery, according to kxan.

Here are five points:

1. The 15-year old has endured constant pain for the last four years, and has worn a brace for scoliosis.

2. Non-profit SpineHope and Texas-based Dell Children's Medical Center Texas are giving the teen hope for a pain-free future. The teen will undergo complex spine surgery at Seton Spine & Scoliosis Center in Austin, Texas, where surgeons will work to straighten and fuse the teen's spine.

3. The surgery is nearly six hours and costs approximately $150,000.

4. After surgery, the teen will recover in Austin for a month so surgeons can monitor her recovery.

5. If children cannot receive treatment in the homeland, SpineHope works to bring children to the United States to undergo treatment.
