Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush is opening the Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush Spine Tumor Center.

Here are five key notes:

 

1. Matthew W. Colman, MD, is leading the efforts. He is the only physician at the practice with fellowships in both musculoskeletal oncology and spine surgery.

 

2. At the center, Dr. Colman will use evidence-based medicine with new technology to treat patients with a minimally invasive approach.

 

3. Dr. Colman treats patients with the full spectrum of spinal tumors, including sarcoma, chordoma and metastatic carcinoma. He can use a multidimensional approach with radiation therapy and potentially surgery.

 

4. Dr. Colman earned his medical degree at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Pittsburgh. He finished a fellowship in pediatric and adult musculoskeletal oncology at Harvard University in Boston and additional training in orthopedic and neurosurgical spine surgery at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

 

5. Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush has offices in Chicago, Oak Park, Westchester, Winfield and northwest Indiana.
