Neurosurgeon Dr. Chirag Patil attended White House's Precision Medicine Initiative Summit: 4 points

Chirag Patil, MD, was selected by the Obama Administration to participate in its Precision Medicine Initiative Summit on Feb. 26, in Washington, D.C., according to a Health News Digest report.

Here are four points:

 

1. Dr. Patil is an assistant professor of neurosurgery and director of the Center for Neurosurgical Outcomes Research at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

 

2. His clinical interests include brain tumors, Cushing's disease, spine tumors, spine surgery and stereotactic radiosurgery.

 

3. His research centers on novel brain tumor therapies and precision medicine. He also has an interest in spine surgery outcome studies.

 

4. He was asked to lend his expertise at the summit, which will include remarks by the president, patient stories and roundtable discussions regarding precision medicine initiatives.
