Do spine patient expectations match their surgeons'?
A study, "Concordance between Patients' and Surgeons' Expectations of Lumbar Spine Surgery," presented at the NASS Annual Meeting reports 87 percent of lumbar spine surgery patients have more optimistic expectations for surgical outcomes than their surgeons; on the contrary, only 11 percent had lower expectations than surgeons. North America dominates non-fusion spinal devices market
An aging population, rising number of obese patients and increasing demand for minimally invasive surgeries are driving the non-fusion global spinal technologies and disc diagnostic devices market. The Asia Pacific region will experience the most rapid growth because of a large population.

Stryker's VertaPlex HV 1st PMMA to receive FDA clearance for sacral insufficiency fracture treatments
This device is the first PMMA to receive clearance for the fixation of pathological sacral fractures using sacral vertebroplasty or sacroplasty. Stryker released its VertaPlex HV in 2008, which offered viscosity and working time preferences for vertebral compression fracture treatments. Cement extravasation is a possible complication with the procedure, so high viscosity cement helps limit cement spreading.
