Physician Hospitals of America recognized Texas Spine & Joint Hospital in Tyler, Texas, as the 2015 Physician Hospital of the Year.
Here are five notes:
1. The hospital received the award for its "exceptional quality, outstanding record of community service and continued leadership in supporting [the] organization's legislative priorities and grassroots initiatives."
2. In operation for 12 years, TSJH demonstrates a dedicated effort to patient safety and satisfaction.
3. The hospital received a Five Star Medicare rating for patient satisfaction and a 90th percentile-plus ranking with Press Ganey.
4. For the past nine years, TSJH has had an infection rate less than 0.5 percent.
5. TSJH also is below the national average for Medicare spending per patient.
