Danbury (Conn.) Hospital has received a $1 million gift to establish an endowed chair in spine surgery, according to an Executive Insight report.

1. The Ervie and Carolyn Hawley Endowed Chair in Orthopedic Spine Surgery aims to support educational and technological advancements in spine surgery.

 

2. The gift came from Danbury residents Ervie Hawley and his wife Carolyn Hawley.

 

3. The chair is the seventh endowed chair at Western Connecticut Health Network.

 

4. David L. Kramer, MD, is the inaugural recipient of the Hawley Endowed Chair.

 

5. He is medical director of The Spine Center at Danbury Hospital.

 

6. He is a spine surgeon focusing on degenerative conditions of the cervical and lumbar spine as well as spinal deformity correction and complex revision spine surgery.
