Decker Intellectual Properties recently signed a branding agreement with American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians to create the comprehensive professional surgical online-learning database, Scientific American PAIN MANAGEMENT.

Here are five things to know about the database.

1. The database is set to launch in 2016 and will serve as a continuously updated modular resource for anesthesiologists, neurologists and other physicians.

2. Decker provides comprehensive and updated medical and surgical information through Scientific American Medicine and Scientific American Surgery for medical professionals and students. The database will utilize information from these publications to form the new offering to pain management physicians.

3. The database's content will be based on the new training curriculum utilized for the American Board of Anesthesiology, American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, American Board of Emergency Medicine, American Board of Family Medicine, American Board of Radiology, and American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians Exams in Pain Management.

4. ASIPP held a crucial role in the creation and refinement of the curriculum and will grant CME accreditation for those individuals completing the SAPM database modules.

5. Alan D. Kaye, MD, PhD, will serve as the editor-in-chief of Scientific American PAIN MANAGEMENT. Dr. Kaye serves as a professor and chairman of anesthesiology at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in addition to serving as editor-in-chief of the Pain Physician Journal.

"ASIPP is pleased to lend its knowledge and expertise to the creation of this comprehensive educational resource that will influence the teaching and practice of pain management and interventional techniques for the next generation," said Laxmaiah Manchikanti, MD,  chairman of the board and CEO of ASIPP and SIPMS.
