More than 700 healthcare professionals are expected to attend the Paralyzed Veterans of America 2015 Summit + EXPO from Sept. 1 to Sept. 3, 2015 in Jacksonville, Fla.

Here are five observations:

1. The annual summit hosts healthcare professionals to discuss treatments in spinal cord injury/dysfunction, multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and traumatic brain injury.

2. The summit offers more than 73 sessions, and attendees can earn as many as 23 continuing education units while listening to speakers discuss medicine, healthcare, policy and government.

3. 2015 Advocacy/Clinical Excellence Awards will be awarded to five individuals at the summit who demonstrated professional achievement, contributions and advocacy for spinal cord injury/disorder, multiple sclerosis and ALS healthcare.

4. The EXPO will highlight up-and-coming technology, medical devices and supplies in the industry.

5. David Shulkin, undersecretary for health for the Department of Veterans Affairs, will deliver the keynote speech.

"We are very proud to host the summit for the fifth year in a row so that healthcare professionals and researchers in these fields can come together and share best practices that they can take home and immediately put to use to improve the care of an SCI/D, MS, ALS or TBI patient," said Lana McKenzie, associate executive director of medical services and health policy for Paralyzed Veterans of America, and chairman of PVA Summit Task Force.
