Arien Smith, MD, joined NYC Surgical Associates, which implemented new specialty services in neurosurgery and spine surgery.

1. Dr. Smith specializes in neurosurgery and spine surgery, and treats the full spectrum of brain and spine disorders.
2. He is the director of the neurosurgery and spine division at NYC Surgical, and he treats adult and pediatric spinal disorders.
3. Equipped with a combination of subspecialty training in both orthopedic and neurosurgical spine surgery for chronic, acute and traumatic issues, Dr. Smith also has experience with scoliosis surgery.
4. He has a specific focus on minimally invasive removal of tumors of the pituitary gland through a transnasal approach.
5. A graduate of the Yale University School of Medicine, Dr. Smith did a surgical internship at Mount Sinai Medical Center and a residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center department of neurosurgery. He also completed a fellowship at the Spine Institute of New York, Beth Israel Medical Center.
6. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery and a fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
