Andrew S. Chi, MD, was named chief of neuro-oncology at the Laura and Isaac Perlmutter Cancer Center and co-director of the NYU Langone Brain Tumor Center.
Here are five things to know:
1. Dr. Chi will lead the neuro-oncologic-related programs and work side-by-side with the Perlmutter Cancer Center’s other experts. He’ll also lead the NYU Langone Brain Tumor Center in partnership with neurosurgery department chair John G. Golfinos, MD.
2. Dr. Chi was previously on the faculty at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical Center. He was assistant professor of neurology.
3. His clinical interest includes genome alterations driving cancer growth, therapeutic strategies to improve outcomes and treating resistant brain tumors.
4. In addition to his clinical practice Dr. Chi also focuses on research and has won several awards for his work. He served as principal or co-investigator for 16 clinical trials.
5. Dr. Chi earned completed his medical degree at Boston University and underwent a neurology residency at Harvard Medical School. His additional training includes a fellowship at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Massachusetts General Hospital.
