Washington-based Providence names Dr. Martin C. Holland to head of neurosurgery: 5 things to know

Providence Regional Medical Center Everett (Wash.) named Martin C. Holland, MD, as chief of neurosurgery and the neuroscience program, according to HeraldNet.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. A board-certified neurosurgeon, Dr. Holland previously worked as a staff neurosurgeon at Palo Alto Medical Foundation.

 

2. Dr. Holland specializes in stroke, brain and spinal tumors, neurotrauma, neurocritical care and spinal disease.

 

3. He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy as a staff neurosurgeon at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego.

 

4. Dr. Holland received the 2012 Trinity Mother Frances Award for Excellence in Teaching and the 2006 Admiral Edward Rhodes Stitt Teaching Award from the Naval Medical Center.

 

5. He received his medical degree from University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor. He completed a fellowship in cerebrovascular and skull base surgery at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix.
