Ali A. Baaj, MD, is joining the department of neurological surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College-New York Presbyterian Hospital in August.

1. Dr. Baaj comes to New York form Tucson, where he was the director of the Neurosurgical Spine Program at the University of Arizona.

 

2. He has clinical interests in spinal deformity and oncology. Dr. Baaj's research interests include spinal biomechanics, spinal surgical anatomy and clinical outcomes research.

 

3. Throughout his career, Dr. Baaj authored more than 70 journal articles and book chapters, and is the lead editor of The Handbook of Spine Surgery. He also serves on the editorial board for multiple spine journals.

 

4. Dr. Baaj completed his neurosurgical residency at the University of South Florida in Tampa and a spine fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

 

5. Dr. Baaj underwent a traveling fellowship in advanced pediatric deformity at Necker Children's Hospital in Paris with an emphasis on neuromuscular and idiopathic scoliosis techniques.
