PhyMed Healthcare Group has named Rona Hatter regional operations manager for it's pain management division, according to a press release.

Previously, Hatter worked as the director of PhyMed's pain management practice in Clarksville, Tennesse and PhyMed's Chief Operating Officer Michael Morgan noted that "She has the skills and expertise to help us grow our pain managment business across a multi-state footprint," according to the press release.

Hatter's promotion is part of a larger plan by PhyMed to refocus its pain management sector as it combats the negative undertones of the pain management discipline as being a "pill mill."

PhyMed, according to the press release, requires the following of its pain management division:

- Physicians are board certified anesthesiologists with an extended one year fellowship for pain management

- Physicians perform interventional pain medicine prodecures with the goal of decreasing pain levels as well as the use of pain medications

- When applicable, the company regulary refers patients to non-drug therapies

- PhyMed takes only referrerals, requires three months' worth of medical records and supportive documentation

- The patient is not accepted if he or she was ever discharged from another clinic

By putting Hatter as Regional Operations Manager, PhyMed hopes to reveal its "growing focus on building a replicable, evidence-based pain management practice plan," the press release noted.
