North American Spine Society earns distinction from ACCME

The North American Spine Society has received an Accreditation with Commendation distinction from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education for its ongoing efforts to offer first-rate physician education.

The accreditation, which runs through November of 2020, is based on a combination of NASS' self-study report, evidence of performance in practice and an accreditation interview.

The distinction is only bestowed upon about 20 percent of providers that submit their reports to ACCME.

"Millions of patients worldwide rely on the education, information and hands-on experiences spine specialists get from NASS meetings, courses and materials, so it is critical that it is evidence-based and of the highest ethical quality," said Edward J. Dohring, MD, NASS education council director. "We are gratified by this public acknowledgement of NASS' high standards for patient care and physician education."

Every year, NASS — a multidisciplinary medical organization dedicated to fostering the highest quality, evidenced-based and ethical spine care by promoting education, research and advocacy — offers a full catalog of medical and surgical educational opportunities.

It is composed of more than 8,000 members from several various disciplines, including orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, neurology, radiology, anesthesiology, research and physical therapy.
