10 hospitals with updated spine centers

Here are 10 hospitals updating their spine and neurosurgery services and centers at the end of 2014.

Yakima, Wash.-based Nova Health is expanding and moving to a new building with a neurosurgery clinic to occupy 15,000 square feet. The new $2.58 million building will include an ambulatory surgery center and imaging equipment.

 

Doctors Hospital of Sarasota (Fla.) renovated its Orthopedic and Spine Institute as part of a planned $17 million upgrade. The institute now includes upgraded patient rooms and services.

 

Harrisburg (Ill.) Medical Center opened a new spine surgery unit offering same-day, outpatient surgery for spine-related conditions.

 

St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, Conn., now has an O-Arm for use during spinal procedures.

 

North Shore-LIJ Health System in Great Neck, N.Y., established a new spine center including 10 physicians focusing on neurosurgery, orthopedics and physiatry.

 

Both Northwestern Medicine in Chicago and the Spine Center at the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville installed new EOS Imaging systems for spinal surgery. The system takes full-body stereoradiographic images of patients in functional positions.

 

Mission Hospital opened a $185M Neuroscience and Spine Institute. The 90,000-square-foot facility includes three operating rooms, eight private recovery rooms and two levels of intensive care.

 

PeaceHealth opened a spine center at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield, Ore.

 

St. Joseph Health opened a new neuroscience and spine institute, investing in $185 million in software and state-of-the-art technology.
