Here are 10 spine surgeons and specialists who were in the news this past week.

Miami-based Michael Wang, MD, performed spine surgery on San Francisco Giant Marco Scutaro.

 

Neurosurgeon Mark Gold, MD, joined Quincy (Ill.) Medical Group’s neurosurgery department.

 

Bologna, Italy-based Stefano Boriani, MD, performed the first surgical case using K2M’s CAPRI Corpectomy Cage System at Rizzoli Hospital.

 

Juan Raposo, MD, an orthopedic spine surgeon, joined the staff at Oak Hospital in Spring Hill. He practices at the Center for Bone & Joint Disease in Brooksville and Hudson.

 

Stanley Jones, MD, a Houston-based spine surgeon, was featured in an article about Celltrex in The Eagle. He received Celltrix for joint pain and now performs the procedure. Most notably he performed it for Texas Governor Rick Perry.

 

Cleveland Clinic spine specialist Santhosh Thomas, DO, was featured in an Every Day Health article about sleeping positions to avoid back pain.

 

Medical director of the Spine and Joint Center at Paradise Valley Hospital in National City, Calif., William Tontz, MD, was featured in an article about the aging spine published in the Journal Standard.

 

Neurosurgeon Scott Meyer, MD, recently performed an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion on a man who faced paralysis after spine pain and degeneration.

 

The Scoliosis Research Society named several new members to the board of directors, including Vice President Kenneth M.C. Cheung, MD, and Treasurer Paul D. Sponseller, MD.
