Dr. Jeffrey Nees Performs 2-Level Disc Replacement in Oklahoma ASC

Spine

Jeffrey Nees, MD, recently became the second neurosurgeon in an Oklahoma ambulatory surgery center to perform a two-level artificial disc replacement.

Dr. Ness performed the procedures at the Laser Spine Institute surgery center. He used the FDA-approved Mobi-C artificial disc for the procedure.

In a prospective, randomized clinical trial comparing two-level Mobi-C disc replacement with anterior cervical discectomy and fusion, there was a 66 percent success rate for ADR and 36 percent success rate with ACDF. A further study following patients for four years found only 4 percent of patients had a second surgery after two-level disc replacement, compared to 15.2 percent of two-level ACDF patients.

Dr. Nees has more than 15 years of experience in spine and is a diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
