Spine Health Foundation to Present on Disparity in Spine Care Coverage

Spine

The Spine Health Foundation will give a presentation about spine surgery coverage at the 14th Annual International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery Conference in May 2014.

Morgan Lorio, MD, an orthopedic surgeon and spokesperson for SHF, will give the presentation, titled "Reducing Disparity in Specialized Spine Care Coverage." The presentation will include information about pre- and post-intervention for spine surgery patients who would not receive medical care without assistance.

The presentation will also address changes in healthcare and spine care coverage.

"This acceptance provides us with an awesome opportunity to share the remarkable improvements made in the lives of those who received care through SHF," said Dr. Lorio in an organization news release. "I believe this will open dialogue with other spine professionals who have interest in someday opening a SHF chapter in their city. The need for SHF is growing not only in our region, but nationally."

The non-profit organization was founded in August 2010 to provide uninsured or under-insured individuals with access to specialized spine care.
