San Luis Obispo, Calif.-based FzioMed received Russian clearance of its Oxiplex gel for lumbar spine surgery, according to News-Medical.
Oxiplex is a viscoelastic gel applied prior to wound closure during lumbar spine surgery. Studies have shown the gel to reduce the effects of failed back surgery syndrome, such as leg pain and neurological symptoms.

Oxiplex has not been approved by the FDA, though it is still under review.
