Stefan Konasiewicz, MD a former neurosurgeon at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, settled his eighth medical malpractice case out of court with settlement terms undisclosed, according to a Duluth News Tribune report.
In the most recent settled case, a patient accused Dr. Konasiewicz of negligence and causing permanent injury to the spinal cord. Five previous malpractice cases that Dr. Konasiewicz and St. Luke's settled out of court over the span of three years cost $3.2 million, according to the report.
Two additional cases brought against Dr. Konasiewicz went to court, but he was found not guilty of malpractice. There is one more malpractice case set for trial in November against Dr. Konasiewicz.
