The full-endoscopic interlaminar bilateral decompression with a unilateral approach is sufficient and safe as an alternative to traditional procedures for patients with spinal stenosis, according to a study published in Spine.
Researchers examined 72 patients with lumbar central spinal stenosis who underwent full-endoscopic unilateral decompression. After a two-year follow up, 70 percent of patients no longer had leg pain, or it was completely reduced. Another 22 percent stated they only had occasional pain.
The results of the decompression were equal to traditional procedures and the complication rate was low.
