Veyond Metaverse completes 1st remote digital spine surgery

Spine

In September, Veyond Metaverse completed the world's first digital spine surgery remotely, from Paris to Yangon, Myanmar, using the Veyond Connect XR technology platform.

Now, Veyond has partnered with spine specialist Choi Gun, MD, to improve spine surgery training, merging clinical care with technologies — such as artificial intelligence, advanced haptic feedback and dynamic digital twins — to facilitate an educational experience that can be used worldwide and sets new benchmarks in surgical proficiency and patient care.

Through the partnership, Veyond and Dr. Gun are developing a hardware training product tailored for spine surgery training, according to a Nov. 2 press release.

The tool, which is expected to be available in the next 12 months, will integrate artificial intelligence to create a fully immersive training experience.

Throughout his career, Dr. Gun has completed over 8,000 spinal surgeries and trained over 300 international spine surgeons.
