Retired spine surgeon Gary K. Michelson, MD, announced a new $2,500 book scholarship for college students through The Michelson Twenty Million Minds Foundation.

Dr. Michelson and his wife, Alya Michelson, formed the Twenty Million Minds Foundation to create and provide for the use of a digital, higher education textbook library. To win the scholarship, college students need to creatively answer the question "How do you cover the cost of textbooks?"

Dr. Michelson is a fellowship-trained spine surgeon and inventor, and he has been the sole inventor of more than 250 U.S.-patented instruments, operative procedures and medical devices. He was in private practice for 25 years.
