Dr. Joseph Hahn to retire as chief of staff at Cleveland Clinic

Neurosurgeon Joseph Hahn, MD, will retire from his post as chief of staff at Cleveland Clinic on Dec. 31.

Dr. Hahn will retire after nearly 40 years as a neurosurgeon. He joined the neurosurgery department in 1976 and became the chairman in 1981. He was then named chairman of the division of surgery in 1987 and then launched Cleveland Clinic Innovations in 2004. He became chief of staff in 2005.

 

"It has been a tremendous honor and privilege to spend my 38-year career at Cleveland Clinic," said Dr. Hahn. "During the last nine years, I have had the unique opportunity to serve as chief of staff for one of the world's most innovative group of physicians."

 

Brian Donley, MD, will assume the chief of staff position on Jan. 1, 2015. He is currently president of the community hospitals and family health centers.
