Dr. Joe Sam Robinson & former legislator donate TV station to Mercer University

Joe Sam Robinson, MD, a neurosurgeon, donated a television station to Mercer University for local programming, according to a K2 WMAZ report.

The station will be named WMUB and was donated by Dr. Robinson and former state senator Cecil Station Jr. Eventually the station will include newscasts and other original program, but is currently used for sports programming.

 

Dr. Robinson is a partner with Georgia Neurosurgical Institute who began his practice in 1981. He then became chief of the neurosurgery department at The Medical Center of Cetral Georgia. During his career, he has had teaching assignments at several colleges and universities, including Mercer.

 

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Robinson conducts research on brain and spinal cord injuries and authored several periodicals. He is currently working on a second book on trauma and his research team is continuously looking for ways to improve healthcare and cost efficiency.
