Second quarter orthopedic sales reached $2.4 million, a 3.5 percent increase over the same period last year. International orthopedic sales were $1.1 million, a 5.8 percent increase over the same period last year. United States orthopedics sales reached $1.2 million, a 1.6 percent increase over the previous year.

 

Covidien shareholders sue to stop Medtronic acquisition
Medtronic announced plans to acquire Covidien for $42.9 billion earlier this month, which a proposed stockholder class action alleges breaches of fiduciary duty.


 
NuVasive executive vice president sells 3,200 more shares
The shares sold for $33.43 per share, bringing the total transaction to $106,976.00. Mr. Powers now directly owns 42,984 shares of the company valued at around $1.4 million.

The study examined patients with spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis and lumbar disc herniation. Hospitals in the highest quartile received $34,171 on average for an episode of care, compared with $15,997 for hospitals in the lowest quartile.

 

St. Jude Medical pays $200 million for NeuroTherm
St. Jude will add around $10 million to $15 million to the company's sales as a result of the acquisition. The deal isn't expected to close until the third quarter of this year. The final transaction is dependent on customary closing conditions.
