Here are 10 important updates from professional spine and orthopedic societies in the last two months:

1. The Scoliosis Research Society awarded eight spine surgeons from the United States the OrthoPediatric North American Resident/Fellow Meeting Scholarships.

 

2. OrthoCarolina's Bruce V. Darden II, MD, was inducted as 2014 president of the Cervical Spine Research Society.

 

3. The Scoliosis Research Society awarded the Lifetime Achievement Awards to Alvin H. Crawford, MD, and David S. Bradford, MD.

 

4. The American Association of Neurological Surgeons named Gail L. Rosseau, MD, FAANS, vice president.

 

5. The Association of Bone and Joint Surgeons named Todd J. Albert, MD, FACS, a board member as the editor's voting representative.
