10 Hospitals Expanding Spine Programs

United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, W. Va., is planning a $15 million facility that will include neurosurgery, orthopedic and outpatient rehabilitation therapy services. Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville, N.Y. announced it recently performed the first robotic assisted spine surgery in New York State using Mazor Robotics' Renaissance Guidance System.

Harrisburg, Pa.-based PinnacleHealth System announced it added the Pennsylvania Neurosurgery and Neurology Institute to its medical group.

Detroit-based Henry Ford Health System partnered with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Blue Care Network in Michigan to launch a spine surgery outcome improvement initiative in eight Michigan hospitals offering spine surgery for pain relief and mobility restoration.

Renton, Wash.-based Providence Health & Services will open the $22 million Providence Medical Building Monroe (Wash.) Oct. 7, which will house neurosurgery services, among others.

Gainesville, Fla.-based University of Florida Health announced plans to construct a 240-bed specialty tower that will include neuromedicine and cardiovascular services.

Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center announced the completion of its new patient pavilion that includes an operating room for brain and spine care.

North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, Ga., announced that on Aug. 20 its surgeons performed their first minimally invasive spine procedure using the Mazor robot.

San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, N.M., announced the establishment of a neuro-spine program, headquartered at San Juan Health Partners Neurosciences in Farmington.

Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis announced plans to invest $5 million in the expansion of its spine program to include treatments for degenerative disc disease.
