Laser Spine Institute and Marodyne Medical have developed a formal partnership to use research on low-intensity vibration technology for spine surgery applications through the LivMD device. Tampa, Fla.-based Laser Spine Institute performs minimally invasive outpatient spine surgery at locations across the country. Marodyne Medical is a research and development company that specializes in non-drug intervention for disease and injury.
Much of Marodyne's research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, NASA and National Science Foundation, including more than $50 million toward low-intensity vibration technology.
LivMD, one of the first products to apply low-intensity vibration, will be available in 2013 and offered to Laser Spine Institute patients to promote spine surgery healing, according to the release.
