Shriners Hospital for Children Purchases EOS Imaging System for Spine

Spine

Shriners Hospitals for Children in Portland now has an EOS Imaging System to help improve diagnoses for children with spine conditions, such as scoliosis and other deformities. The EOS systems provides full-body images while patients are in a natural standing or sitting position. It features 3D images and a low dose of radiation, according to the release. Patients with spinal deformities typically undergo more than 20 scans over the course of treatment, and typical X-ray radiation levels can be hazardous.

The system can capture the natural posture and joint orientation of patients, including those in wheelchairs or other supportive devices.
