Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Darren Lebl of HSS Spine Center

Darren R. Lebl, MD, serves as an assistant attending orthopedic surgeon at New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery, where he is also an assistant scientist in the research division. He is the director of the Complex Cervical Spine Symposium.

He specializes in treatment of the cervical spine, spinal deformities and degenerative disorders.

 

A diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Lebl is also an Emerging Leader of the American Orthopaedic Association.

 

He has published work on spine surgery complication avoidance, cervical spine disorders, minimally invasive procedures, motion-preserving technologies and spinal deformities. He holds editorial appointments on The Spine Journal, Global Spine Journal and Journal of Spinal Disorders and Techniques, among others.

 

Dr. Lebl earned his medial degree from Stanford (Calif.) University School of Medicine, and completed his internship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School in Boston. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital, and his spine and scoliosis surgery fellowship at HSS.
