Arthur L. Jenkins III, MD, is a neurosurgeon and an associate professor of neurosurgery and orthopedics at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. He serves as a principal investigator for the InVivio Therapeutics stem cell clinical trial and has also contributed to the artificial disc trials for Spinal Kinetics and DePuy Discover.
Dr. Jenkins has a professional interest in minimally-invasive spine surgery, craniovertebral junction disorders, cervical, thoracic and lumbosacral spine disorders, spinal trauma, spinal cord injury and spinal tumors. He has expertise in neurophysiology monitoring for spinal surgery cases, such as motor-evoked potentials and intraoperative EMG recordings.
Dr. Jenkins' work has been published in numerous professional peer-reviewed journals, including Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, Spinal Cord and Mount Sinai Journal of Medicine. He has also been involved in teaching neurosurgeons around the world about new concepts in surgical techniques and advanced biomechanical concepts.
Dr. Jenkins earned his medical degree at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He completed his residency at Mount Sinai Hospital. He has also completed a neurosurgery-spine fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston.
