Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Ralph Rashbaum of Texas Back Institute

Ralph F. Rashbaum, MD, is a co-founder of Plano-based Texas Back Institute, one of the first back schools in the United States. He is involved in the Texas Back Institute Spine Fellowship Program and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He is also a clinical assistant professor at Southwestern Medical School in Dallas.

Additionally, Dr. Rashbaum is a member of the North American Spine Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and vice president of the Texas Pain Society. He has also served in the U.S. Air Force as a Major.

 

Dr. Rashbaum has an interest in treating chronic low back pain. He is a member of SI-BONE's surgeon advisory board. SI-BONE is a medical device company focusing on developing products for sacroiliac joint pain. He also has a wide array of research interests and his work has been published in numerous professional journals, such as Spine and The Spine Journal.

 

"I think for me, the most important and most satisfying aspect of being a spine surgeon and pain specialist is to return these patients to greatly improved function," says Dr. Rashbaum. "This may simply allow for return to their family environment, to enjoy being with those around them. When this occurs with return to gainful employment, this is a home run!"

 

Dr. Rashbaum earned his medical degree Chicago Medical School. He completed his residency at University Hospitals in Cleveland. Additionally, he has completed a spine fellowship at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia.
