Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Bradford Currier of Mayo Clinic

Bradford Currier, MD, is a professor of orthopedics and spine specialist providing care at Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic. He has served as president of the Lumbar Spine Research Society.

Dr. Currier's clinical interests include metastatic and primary spinal tumors, spinal cord compression, spinal cord injuries, spinal fractures and spinal fusion. He is also actively involved in research, and his areas of interest are tissue engineering strategies to solve clinical problems as well as a number of projects in collaboration with the Mayo Cancer Center.

 

Dr. Currier has a multidisciplinary spinal cord injury research team, which investigates spinal cord regeneration. His work has also been published in numerous prestigious professional journals, such as The Spine Journal, Spine and Orthopedic Clinics of North America.

 

Dr. Currier earned his medical degree at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and completed his residency at Mayo Graduate School of Medicine/Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. He has also completed a fellowship in spine surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami School of Medicine.
