Spine Surgeon Leader to Know: Dr. Michael Coscia of OrthoIndy

Michael F. Coscia, MD, is an orthopedic spine surgeon practicing with Indianapolis-based OrthoIndy. He serves as a spine consultant for the Indiana Pacers and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Medical Association, North American Spine Society and Scoliosis Research Society.

Dr. Coscia has served as a physician at numerous Olympic trials, NCAA competitions and championships as well as for the Indy 500 and the Brickyard 400. He has also served as the primary investigator in multiple research studies involving the spine. He has traveled widely and has worked and studied in France, Switzerland, Italy, Hong Kong and Singapore.

 

Dr. Coscia has a professional interest in trauma, infections, tumors, scoliosis and spinal deformities, disc herniations in the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine and arthritis of the spine.

 

Dr. Coscia earned his medical degree at Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, N.C., and completed his residency at the University of Tennessee/Campbell Foundation in Memphis. He has also completed a fellowship at Minnesota Spine Center and Twin Cities Spine Center at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis as well as the AO Spine Fellowship in St. Gallen and Bern, Switzerland.
