With more than 20 years of experience, David Paly, MD, is board-certified in pain medicine and anesthesiology. He practices at South Sound Neurosurgery in Puyallup, Wash. Dr. Paly's research includes topics in pain management, neurobiochemistry of endorphins and the use of local anesthetics in myofascial pain syndrome. His work has been widely published.
Previously, he served as the co-director of the Maryland Pain Therapy Unit and an assistant professor in anesthesiology at the University of Maryland in College Park.
He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, International Anesthesia Research Society and International Association for the Study of Pain, as well as a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesia.
Dr. Paly completed his medical degree at Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn. He completed his surgical internship at the University of Oregon in Eugene. His neurosurgery residency and neuroscience research fellowships took place at the University of Washington in Seattle. Dr. Paly also went on to complete a residency in anesthesiology and a clinical fellowship in neuroanesthesia and pain from the Yale University School of Medicine.
