Spine Specialist to Know: Dr. John Carrino of Johns Hopkins

John Carrino, MD, is the chief of musculoskeletal radiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. He is also an associate professor of radiology and orthopedic surgery. Dr. John Carrino of Johns Hospkins Hospital Dr. Carrino's areas of clinical interest include spine imaging and novel MRI techniques. He also has research interests in health services and informatics. At Johns Hopkins he provides services in joint and spine intervention for pain management, tumors of the bones and muscles, sports-related injuries and high-resolution MR neurography and MR guided injection.

He is the 2005 recipient of the Society of Interventional Radiology Distinguished Faculty Award and the 1999 recipient of the George Marina Teaching Award from Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Carrino received his medical degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He completed an internship in internal medicine at Pacific Presbyterian Medical Center in San Francisco and a radiology residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital in Connecticut.
