Spine Surgeon Leader to Know: Dr. Gordon Bell of Cleveland Clinic

Gordon Bell, MD, is the director of the Center for Spine Health at Cleveland Clinic. He's a certified orthopedic surgeon with a special interest in spinal surgery, spinal stenosis, disc herniation and spinal fusion. Dr. Gordon Bell of Cleveland ClinicHe has been awarded the Volvo Award for clinical research by the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine. He is the co-editor of two spine textbooks and serves as associate editor for Spine and an associate board member of The Spine Journal.

Dr. Bell treats many diseases and conditions, including chronic back pain, degenerative back conditions, myelopathy, spine tumors and fractures, spinal cord injuries, spondylosis and spinal stenosis. He also performs cervical artificial disc replacement surgery, complex spinal surgery, kyphoplasty, lumbar fusion, spine decompression and thoracic spine surgery.

He received his medical degree from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine in Canada. He completed an internal medicine internship and an orthopedic surgery residency at Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Bell also completed a spine fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia.

He's a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Association, North American Spine Society, Mid-American Orthopaedic Association and International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine.
