Partners Against Pain is now working with actress Jennifer Grey to launch a new initiative called Hands On Approach for Pain Management, designed to highlight the importance of open and honest communication between chronic pain patients and healthcare professionals, according to a Purdue Pharma news release.
Ms. Grey lived with chronic pain for more than 10 years and now wants to encourage people to speak out more about their condition and identify treatment options with healthcare providers so they don't have to experience pain anymore.
She is spearheading this new initiative to offer practical information and tools to improve the way patients and healthcare professionals share information about pain. These tools include a downloadable pain journal, guides for maximizing medical appointments and a video about communicating pain issues effectively.
The campaign also includes a photo contest that gives chronic pain patients the opportunity to portray personal experiences with their conditions.
