Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Amit Momaya of University of Alabama at Birmingham

Amit Momaya, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon, specializing in sports medicine, at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

In addition, Dr. Momaya serves as an assistant professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine. He is the team physician for the university and assistant physician for the Colorado Rockies.

 

Board certified in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Momaya's clinical interests include arthroscopic surgery, shoulder replacement, cartilage restoration and biologics. He has published numerous articles and book chapters on various sports medicine topics.

 

Dr. Momaya serves as a manuscript reviewer for Arthroscopy, Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and American Journal of Sports Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America and American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.

 

After earning his medical degree from Baylor University College of Medicine in Houston, Dr. Momaya completed his residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Momaya is also fellowship trained from the Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas in Greenville, S.C.
