Joel Matta, MD, joined The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colo.
Here are five things to know:
1. Dr. Matta has a special interest in hip and pelvic reconstruction. He'll be joining The Steadman Clinic in June.
2. With 35 years of practice in orthopedic surgery under his belt, Dr. Matta is currently founder and director of the Hip and Pelvis Institute at St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica, Calif. He helped design the anterior approach to hip surgery.
3. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Matta conducts research and has published more than 30 articles and studies on hip replacement, pelvic and acetabular fracture treatment and peri-acetabular osteotomy. He also holds U.S. and international patents on orthopedic innovations.
4. Dr. Matta has a database documenting thousands of hip and pelvis procedures he has performed since 1980, which will complement his research activities with the Steadman Philippon Research Institute.
5. Matta is a member of the Hip Society and International Hip Society.
