Dr. Paul Markey retires after 39 years: 4 things to know

Paul Markey, MD, retired from Norwalk, Conn.-based Coastal Orthopaedics after a 39 year career.

Here's what you need to know.


1. Dr. Markey retired in October. He joined the practice which grew into Coastal Orthopedics in 1977.


2. His career began after he earned his medical degree from New Haven, Conn.-based Yale University. He completed his internship at Boston's Massachusetts General Hospital before spending three years serving his country in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He retired from active duty as a lieutenant commander.


Dr. Markey then completed his orthopedic residency at Cambridge, Mass.-based Harvard University and his fellowship at the Burlington, Mass.-based Lahey Clinic.


3. Dr. Markey was a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, a diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a member of several statewide professional societies.


4. He served as the team physician for two Connecticut high schools.
