Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.-based The Joint Commission awarded Moultrie, Ga.-based Colquitt Regional Medical Center gold seals of approval for total hip and total knee replacement, the Moultrie Observer reports.

Here's what you should know.

1. The Joint Commission conducted an on-site review in October 2016 evaluating the center's compliance with disease care standards and total joint specific requirements.

2. Interim Executive Director of Hospital Business Development for The Joint Commission Patrick Phelan said Colquitt Regional demonstrated a high level of care for its total joint related patients, and that it "potentially provides a higher standard of service" for total joint patients than other nearby facilities.

3. Orthopedic surgeons Robert Bartosh, MD, and Jared Toman, MD, lead the center's total joint program. Shain Nowland, RN, is the director of the surgical orthopedic floor.

4. Colquitt will have the certifications for two years before it has to reapply.
